In a recent interview, Linda Gray talked about the first time she met Larry Hagman on the set of “Dallas” and the strong impression he made on her.
Gray, 85, and Hagman, who died in 2012, played the most iconic and turbulent couple in the American soap opera aired between 1978 and 1991, which followed the wealthy Ewing family and their endless disputes over the oil empire and control of Southfork Ranch.
During an appearance on the “Celebrity Drop” podcast, the actress revealed that she was already a fan of Hagman before she even met him and that the first time she saw him, he was carrying chocolates and a bottle of champagne, which charmed her.
“And we were all in that room, the whole cast. Nobody knew who we were. We were actors, unemployed actors who had just gotten a job. And so we were all packed into that little room”, Gray said.
According to the actress, she was struck by meeting the “I Dream of Jeannie” actor; “Larry looked at me and said: ‘Hello, darling.’ And I thought: ‘Oh, this is trouble. This is trouble’”, she recalled.

“And I thought: ‘Oh my God, I’m in love with Major Nelson and now he’s right here in front of me'”, Gray said.
In “Dallas”, Gray played Sue Ellen Ewing, the wife of the villain J.R. Ewing, portrayed by Hagman. The actress was part of the main cast of the original series from 1978 to 1989, returning for the final episode in 1991 and reprising her role in the reboot that aired between 2012 and 2014.
Gray currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and focuses her efforts on developing and producing new independent films; she also dedicates part of her free time to supporting humanitarian and charitable organizations.
